18 poems focusing on the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. There are a variety of types of poetry used, from sonnets to haiku. Each of the poems are explained with factual information about the monarch at the end of the book.
Response and Reaction:
An excellent way to introduce young children to different types of poetry, this book can capture the fascination of children. The color pencil illustrations are bright and colorful and help to draw the reader into the poem. I would have liked to have seen a guide to which style of poetry as used to create each of the poems. This would make it easier for a young reader to learn the different types of poetry.
